How a mixed breed dog changed my life

Welcome to our new blog post!
Today I will talk about how a mixed breed dog, Melo, has radically changed my life, improving it in every sense.
Maybe only people who have had or have a mutt can understand 100% what I am about to say, but I want to tell my thoughts so that we can defeat this discrimination against mutts.
I start by briefly describing our first meeting: on October 24th 2015 my family and I had the idea of only going to "see" a dog, after my umpteenth request to have one.
Sure .... just see, how not.
The rule is this: when you enter a kennel, and you see puppies, you will always come home with a dog in your arms. And indeed it was.
I fell in love with Melo the first moment I saw him: he was shy, he hid with his little sister with a black coat inside that kennel which probably wasn't very large for all 6 puppies. He was thin and, I learned later from the vet, he had conjunctivitis and an outbreak in his lungs.
Needless to say, if he had stayed there, who knows how he would have survived.
My parents and I took it home: Melo started sniffing every inch of our apartment. He was a puppy all paws and ears who just wanted to change his life, make a radical change and begin to be loved for real. We took care of him, treated him like a spoiled prince (even now he continues to be like this) and pampered with all the love that can be given.

It is known, unfortunately taking a mixed breed dog from the kennel can mean not knowing exactly the origins of the dog, nor who are the parents and their respective character traits; In fact, the first months with us Melo had shown some spiteful attitudes of a true devil, and he began to gnaw on some furniture.
With the help of an educator we were able to get him through these behaviors, and now he is a dog that sleeps ALL day, and I'm not kidding: I have to pull him to go outside, otherwise he won't move !!
Taking a mutt, however, also means having a magical dog. Being a mixture of races makes it special, "different" and particular. You will hardly see in your life a dog exactly the same as Melo, which you could not say with a purebred dog, because the latter are precisely characterized by a typical coat color or by a specific character.
I realized I have a precious treasure: I don't care if someone thinks it ugly, different from other dogs, not very obedient, etc. I will always love him precisely because Melo is like that.
I accept him with his flaws (he is stubborn and lazy) and with his strengths (he is affectionate, talented, he knows how to pose, he knows how to understand my feelings)
If I had had another dog, a purebred one, perhaps my story would not be the same; maybe I wouldn't be here to tell you all this; maybe my Instagram profile would be completely different .... but you know what? I do not care.
Melo knew how to listen to me, like any other being on Earth would not have been able to. He understood me, he helped me in the toughest moments of my life, and he knew how to console me when I needed it. He was able to revolutionize my entire existence.
I know perfectly well that if I need a shoulder to let off steam, I can count on him. Melo is my dog, he is my companion in life and adventures, the one with whom I shared unforgettable memories.
Nobody will ever deny the above, because our bond is comparable to a chain that will never break. We together are a force never seen before ... we are two chained souls 🖇 ♥ ️
